Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Banking and Metals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.02% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 1.17%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which rose 8.43% or 41.90 points to trade at 539.10 at the close. Meanwhile, State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) added 4.59% or 14.05 points to end at 319.85 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) was up 4.43% or 13.30 points to 313.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which fell 4.04% or 1303.60 points to trade at 30929.80 at the close. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) declined 3.53% or 15.60 points to end at 426.55 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) was down 3.01% or 73.15 points to 2355.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 8.19% to 538.40, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 4.58% to settle at 319.80 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which gained 4.42% to close at 313.20.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 2.90% to 2360.90 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 1.06% to settle at 210.50 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 0.89% to 548.45 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 872 to 720 and 15 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1484 rose and 1253 declined, while 155 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) rose to all time highs; up 8.19% or 40.75 to 538.40. Shares in ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.42% or 13.25 to 313.20.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.43% to 12.1375.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.76% or 9.66 to $1280.16 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.25% or 0.68 to hit $55.06 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.21% or 0.74 to trade at $61.68 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.19% to 64.585, while EUR/INR fell 0.30% to 75.1820.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 94.51.
