Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Banking and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.97%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 1.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which rose 6.11% or 178.35 points to trade at 3076.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) added 3.87% or 64.90 points to end at 1744.00 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) was up 4.04% or 12.40 points to 318.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which fell 1.97% or 3.85 points to trade at 187.90 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 3.45% or 5.25 points to end at 146.60 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was down 2.83% or 14.90 points to 510.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which rose 5.02% to 3062.10, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was up 4.21% to settle at 1745.15 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which gained 3.76% to close at 319.00.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 3.89% to 187.95 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 3.58% to settle at 146.75 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 2.88% to 510.65 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 991 to 611 and 53 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1505 fell and 1019 advanced, while 156 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 6.48% to 20.4025.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.33% or 4.00 to $1233.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.39% or 0.70 to hit $51.12 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.80% or 1.06 to trade at $60.10 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.23% to 70.725, while EUR/INR rose 0.33% to 80.3730.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 96.678.
