Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.95%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.88%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL), which rose 5.65% or 35.75 points to trade at 668.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) added 5.21% or 6.70 points to end at 135.20 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was up 4.99% or 371.40 points to 7813.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI), which fell 2.49% or 173.40 points to trade at 6777.00 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 1.57% or 6.60 points to end at 413.80 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was down 1.35% or 39.05 points to 2850.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 4.94% to 7810.60, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 4.29% to settle at 1137.25 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which gained 3.36% to close at 241.45.
The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 2.54% to 6777.85 in late trade, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which lost 1.20% to settle at 3728.35 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 0.83% to 20142.95 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 873 to 831 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1549 fell and 1511 advanced, while 157 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) rose to all time highs; up 4.94% or 367.70 to 7810.60. Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.29% or 46.75 to 1137.25. Shares in ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.36% or 7.85 to 241.45.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.56% to 16.5200.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.21% or 3.75 to $1767.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.15% or 0.81 to hit $70.95 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.00% or 0.74 to trade at $74.66 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.01% to 73.652, while EUR/INR rose 0.10% to 86.4390.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 93.132.
