Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Metals, Healthcare and Green Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.93% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.73%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 7.77% or 14.95 points to trade at 207.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) added 7.72% or 34.10 points to end at 476.00 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) was up 4.26% or 200.00 points to 4898.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which fell 5.26% or 43.95 points to trade at 791.25 at the close. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) declined 4.07% or 84.75 points to end at 1999.80 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was down 2.00% or 26.15 points to 1279.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 7.39% to 474.50, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 4.35% to settle at 608.90 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which gained 4.02% to close at 6955.50.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 5.62% to 788.15 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 4.20% to settle at 1996.90 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 2.03% to 1278.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 844 to 748 and 99 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1384 rose and 1250 declined, while 194 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.11% to 22.0325.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.06% or 1.10 to $1875.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.89% or 1.61 to hit $42.97 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 3.71% or 1.62 to trade at $45.23 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.11% to 74.359, while EUR/INR fell 0.14% to 87.6305.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 92.888.
