Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Metals, Oil & Gas and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.92%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which rose 5.06% or 21.80 points to trade at 452.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) added 4.61% or 30.45 points to end at 691.45 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 4.22% or 10.15 points to 250.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which fell 1.37% or 51.50 points to trade at 3703.95 at the close. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) declined 1.30% or 5.25 points to end at 399.95 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC) was down 0.67% or 11.70 points to 1740.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which rose 4.97% to 452.30, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 4.73% to settle at 691.40 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 3.19% to close at 530.40.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 1.42% to 3703.70 in late trade, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which lost 0.40% to settle at 2377.85 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was down 0.38% to 1745.80 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1095 to 468 and 19 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1633 rose and 935 declined, while 110 ended unchanged.

Shares in Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.97% or 21.40 to 452.30. Shares in Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) rose to 5-year highs; rising 4.73% or 31.20 to 691.40.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.06% to 11.1175 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.02% or 0.30 to $1272.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.00% or 0.51 to hit $50.28 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.44% or 0.25 to trade at $56.75 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.19% to 65.345, while EUR/INR rose 0.29% to 76.5135.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 93.79.
