Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Metals, Power and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.91%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.91%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI), which rose 8.04% or 388.40 points to trade at 5220.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 4.41% or 21.35 points to end at 505.70 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was up 4.04% or 5.65 points to 145.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL), which fell 2.91% or 28.70 points to trade at 957.50 at the close. Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) declined 2.15% or 36.00 points to end at 1641.15 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was down 1.36% or 9.70 points to 702.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which rose 4.08% to 145.55, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 3.58% to settle at 17789.45 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which gained 2.50% to close at 463.05.
The worst performers were Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 0.75% to 3826.15 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which lost 0.59% to settle at 2686.55 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 0.42% to 2154.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1294 to 416 and 70 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2207 rose and 964 declined, while 175 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.76% to 16.7350.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.53% or 9.35 to $1749.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.08% or 0.06 to hit $75.94 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.14 to trade at $79.42 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.27% to 74.328, while EUR/INR rose 0.44% to 86.3400.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 93.933.
