Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.91%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.94%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which rose 6.64% or 46.50 points to trade at 747.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 6.50% or 24.05 points to end at 394.30 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was up 4.92% or 99.10 points to 2115.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which fell 3.09% or 92.80 points to trade at 2912.55 at the close. ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) declined 3.07% or 6.20 points to end at 195.90 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) was down 2.82% or 6.45 points to 222.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 6.94% to 748.15, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 5.22% to settle at 2115.95 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 3.64% to close at 492.35.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 3.54% to 195.10 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 3.33% to settle at 2904.30 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 3.00% to 1340.95 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 938 to 674 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1560 rose and 1001 declined, while 127 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.34% to 28.7350 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.19% or 3.45 to $1774.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.77% or 0.30 to hit $39.02 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.02% or 0.42 to trade at $41.47 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.00% to 75.582, while EUR/INR rose 0.14% to 84.8935.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 97.265.
