Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Metals, Oil & Gas and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.90%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.82%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (NS:IOC), which rose 4.22% or 18.35 points to trade at 452.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 3.98% or 9.05 points to end at 236.35 and Bosch Ltd (NS:BOSH) was up 3.56% or 771.85 points to 22465.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which fell 1.39% or 6.00 points to trade at 425.75 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) declined 1.23% or 16.95 points to end at 1360.00 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) was down 0.19% or 1.10 points to 566.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 2.12% to 1564.15, Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was up 1.94% to settle at 389.65 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which gained 1.83% to close at 1759.50.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.28% to 1360.10 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 0.35% to settle at 215.05 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 0.30% to 168.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1171 to 368 and 18 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1738 rose and 764 declined, while 113 ended unchanged.
Shares in Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (NS:IOC) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.22% or 18.35 to 452.85.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.84% to 12.8875.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.09% or 1.15 to $1317.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.60% or 0.28 to hit $46.16 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.46% or 0.24 to trade at $51.42 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.08% to 63.961, while EUR/INR fell 0.29% to 76.4223.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 92.41.
