Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Real Estate and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.90%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.75%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 9.11% or 29.35 points to trade at 345.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) added 5.83% or 15.60 points to end at 281.10 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was up 4.85% or 17.45 points to 375.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which fell 3.32% or 4.75 points to trade at 137.75 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) declined 2.26% or 7.50 points to end at 325.20 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was down 1.62% or 22.40 points to 1358.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 3.64% to 3111.80, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 3.48% to settle at 175.50 and Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which gained 2.72% to close at 83.05.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 4.07% to 137.80 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 1.87% to settle at 324.80 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.37% to 1359.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 836 to 736 and 60 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1261 fell and 1123 advanced, while 138 ended unchanged.
Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) fell to 3-years lows; down 3.32% or 4.75 to 137.75. Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) fell to 52-week lows; falling 1.62% or 22.40 to 1358.20. Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) fell to 3-years lows; down 4.07% or 5.85 to 137.80. Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) fell to 52-week lows; falling 1.37% or 18.90 to 1359.20.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.00% to 28.3700.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.24% or 3.15 to $1294.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.74% or 0.46 to hit $62.48 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.35 to trade at $72.12 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.29% to 70.030, while EUR/INR fell 0.21% to 78.4935.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 97.360.
