Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Power and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.89%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.94%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART), which rose 3.73% or 79.70 points to trade at 2,216.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) added 2.64% or 68.55 points to end at 2,665.65 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC) was up 1.73% or 44.80 points to 2,639.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which fell 1.58% or 9.55 points to trade at 593.45 at the close. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) declined 0.72% or 9.90 points to end at 1,374.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was down 0.63% or 7.75 points to 1,231.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which rose 3.51% to 2,213.15, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was up 2.67% to settle at 2,666.40 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which gained 1.77% to close at 2,640.65.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 1.67% to 592.95 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which lost 0.81% to settle at 1,373.05 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 0.74% to 1,230.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1063 to 833 and 68 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1749 fell and 1627 advanced, while 140 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.88% to 14.59.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.75% or 14.35 to $1,907.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $80.12 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.69 to trade at $85.15 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.20% to 81.79, while EUR/INR rose 0.18% to 88.44.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 102.23.
