Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.89%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.96%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which rose 2.89% or 27.30 points to trade at 972.00 at the close. Meanwhile, GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) added 2.63% or 2.45 points to end at 95.75 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was up 2.54% or 82.85 points to 3345.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which fell 1.29% or 283.10 points to trade at 21675.65 at the close. Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM) declined 1.15% or 254.05 points to end at 21849.85 and Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) was down 0.93% or 3.05 points to 324.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 2.86% to 971.65, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 2.54% to settle at 3345.30 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 2.22% to close at 2309.00.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 0.69% to 555.00 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 0.48% to settle at 611.20 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 0.38% to 433.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 968 to 622 and 76 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1486 rose and 1018 declined, while 148 ended unchanged.
Shares in Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.89% or 27.30 to 972.00. Shares in Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) rose to 3-years highs; rising 2.86% or 27.05 to 971.65.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.77% to 23.1500 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for October delivery was up 0.56% or 11.50 to $2048.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.92% or 0.39 to hit $41.80 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.33% or 0.15 to trade at $45.02 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.19% to 74.936, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 88.7700.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 92.877.
