Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.87% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.85%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which rose 4.76% or 16.55 points to trade at 363.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 3.15% or 7.00 points to end at 229.05 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) was up 2.87% or 28.60 points to 1025.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL), which fell 1.92% or 5.25 points to trade at 268.30 at the close. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) declined 1.30% or 2.05 points to end at 155.25 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was down 1.18% or 23.20 points to 1935.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 3.02% to 1025.75, Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was up 2.58% to settle at 371.25 and Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which gained 2.56% to close at 278.00.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.00% to 1935.00 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which lost 0.96% to settle at 1372.45 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 0.96% to 564.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1131 to 469 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1620 rose and 937 declined, while 132 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.04% to 12.3950.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.50% or 6.30 to $1253.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.58% or 0.43 to hit $74.28 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.23% or 0.96 to trade at $79.03 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.19% to 68.785, while EUR/INR fell 0.10% to 80.6015.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 94.07.
