Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Public Sector Undertakings and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.85%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.76%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 6.38% or 24.50 points to trade at 408.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) added 4.82% or 6.00 points to end at 130.10 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was up 3.50% or 38.00 points to 1123.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which fell 2.55% or 11.45 points to trade at 442.25 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) declined 1.02% or 3.55 points to end at 343.05 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) was down 1.39% or 38.40 points to 2731.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 2.72% to 149.20, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was up 2.61% to settle at 413.25 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which gained 2.34% to close at 128.80.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 1.04% to 423.25 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 0.83% to settle at 344.55 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 0.62% to 2256.25 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 995 to 569 and 72 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1462 rose and 908 declined, while 154 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.23% to 14.1200 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.32% or 4.75 to $1512.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $55.05 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.25% or 0.15 to trade at $60.23 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.11% to 71.017, while EUR/INR rose 0.44% to 78.8080.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 98.045.
