Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Capital Goods and Carbon sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.83% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.95%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 4.76% or 9.15 points to trade at 201.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) added 3.49% or 46.70 points to end at 1386.10 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 3.33% or 17.10 points to 530.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which fell 2.01% or 3.80 points to trade at 185.30 at the close. Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) declined 1.87% or 2.45 points to end at 128.25 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was down 1.18% or 7.20 points to 602.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 3.40% to 531.00, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was up 3.35% to settle at 1384.45 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which gained 2.96% to close at 3490.55.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 2.06% to 185.15 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which lost 1.19% to settle at 723.75 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.14% to 603.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 949 to 687 and 67 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1548 rose and 1125 declined, while 155 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.55% to 19.2300 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.56% or 10.95 to $1957.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.66% or 0.28 to hit $42.62 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.65% or 0.29 to trade at $45.22 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 1.04% to 74.141, while EUR/INR fell 0.72% to 87.7105.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 92.975.
