Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Metals, Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.83%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.80%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL), which rose 3.18% or 8.20 points to trade at 267.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 3.03% or 11.55 points to end at 393.10 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) was up 2.61% or 33.00 points to 1295.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which fell 2.05% or 2.30 points to trade at 110.05 at the close. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) declined 1.28% or 3.50 points to end at 269.80 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) was down 1.03% or 14.15 points to 1363.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 2.63% to 1295.80, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 2.51% to settle at 138.90 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which gained 2.49% to close at 781.85.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 1.70% to 110.05 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 0.96% to settle at 1363.20 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 0.73% to 1450.05 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 818 to 760 and 61 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1231 fell and 1199 advanced, while 152 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.40% to 15.0100.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.10% or 15.65 to $1433.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.59% or 0.34 to hit $57.56 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.45 to trade at $63.73 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.16% to 69.382, while EUR/INR rose 0.08% to 78.9990.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 95.502.
