Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Green Energy and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.82% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.79%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which rose 5.15% or 117.55 points to trade at 2,402.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 5.03% or 36.25 points to end at 756.50 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was up 2.74% or 20.90 points to 783.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL), which fell 2.29% or 15.25 points to trade at 651.95 at the close. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) declined 1.04% or 11.60 points to end at 1,108.10 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was down 0.54% or 15.35 points to 2,828.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 2.07% to 1,022.40, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 1.80% to settle at 189.35 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which gained 1.64% to close at 3,024.95.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 0.93% to 1,109.00 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 0.32% to settle at 1,396.00 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 0.26% to 1,518.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 0 to 0; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 0 fell and 0 advanced.
Shares in JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) rose to all time highs; up 2.74% or 20.90 to 783.40. Shares in NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) rose to 5-year highs; rising 1.80% or 3.35 to 189.35. Shares in Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) rose to all time highs; up 1.64% or 48.75 to 3,024.95.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.02% to 10.89 a new 3-years low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.29% or 5.55 to $1,916.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.19% or 0.13 to hit $69.69 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.09 to trade at $74.33 a barrel.
USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 82.01, while EUR/INR rose 0.07% to 89.57.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 102.57.
