Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.82%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.95%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 2.61% or 5.80 points to trade at 229.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 3.19% or 61.35 points to end at 1985.15 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 2.73% or 20.05 points to 754.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE), which fell 8.13% or 28.80 points to trade at 324.55 at the close. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) declined 3.06% or 9.60 points to end at 303.95 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was down 2.38% or 8.20 points to 336.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 3.24% to 229.15, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 3.07% to settle at 1985.00 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 2.94% to close at 754.90.
The worst performers were Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was down 0.37% to 214.45 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 0.23% to settle at 1395.05 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 0.20% to 148.25 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 984 to 601 and 70 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1486 rose and 1040 declined, while 140 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.60% to 15.3575 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.08% or 1.05 to $1331.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.26% or 0.15 to hit $57.41 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.14 to trade at $67.39 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.05% to 70.999, while EUR/INR rose 0.19% to 80.6650.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 96.213.
