Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Metals, Real Estate and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.79%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.65%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which rose 5.03% or 14.30 points to trade at 298.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) added 4.00% or 12.15 points to end at 315.90 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was up 3.62% or 51.80 points to 1483.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which fell 3.50% or 18.00 points to trade at 500.75 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 2.58% or 15.25 points to end at 576.45 and Bosch Ltd (NS:BOSH) was down 0.98% or 195.00 points to 19730.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 3.56% to 1482.65, Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was up 3.02% to settle at 271.05 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 2.52% to close at 2372.00.
The worst performers were Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which was down 2.53% to 575.85 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 0.87% to settle at 182.85 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 0.45% to 1119.95 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1043 to 519 and 38 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1575 rose and 1012 declined, while 154 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.62% or 51.80 to 1483.40. Shares in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.56% or 50.95 to 1482.65.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 8.94% to 14.9400.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.26% or 3.30 to $1260.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.53% or 0.30 to hit $57.34 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $63.34 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.25% to 64.125, while EUR/INR fell 0.15% to 75.6662.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 93.48.
