Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Metals and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.77%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.79%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which rose 3.49% or 16.40 points to trade at 486.50 at the close. Meanwhile, ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) added 3.45% or 19.30 points to end at 578.40 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was up 3.19% or 28.50 points to 922.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM), which fell 2.77% or 811.55 points to trade at 28509.15 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) declined 2.70% or 41.05 points to end at 1481.85 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) was down 1.88% or 45.15 points to 2352.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which rose 3.60% to 579.15, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was up 2.67% to settle at 2479.30 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which gained 2.30% to close at 3682.70.
The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 2.75% to 1480.90 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which lost 1.81% to settle at 2349.80 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.80% to 2509.55 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 980 to 653 and 80 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1693 rose and 1118 declined, while 157 ended unchanged.
Shares in Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) rose to all time highs; up 3.49% or 16.40 to 486.50. Shares in Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) rose to all time highs; up 3.19% or 28.50 to 922.50.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.68% to 23.0250.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.33% or 6.00 to $1787.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.70% or 0.43 to hit $60.92 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.78% or 0.51 to trade at $64.81 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.53% to 75.019, while EUR/INR fell 0.39% to 90.4060.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 91.032.
