Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Metals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.76% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.90%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 7.83% or 14.95 points to trade at 204.80 at the close. Meanwhile, ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) added 2.87% or 7.95 points to end at 284.50 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 2.72% or 4.90 points to 184.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which fell 3.42% or 26.20 points to trade at 733.80 at the close. GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) declined 2.19% or 7.50 points to end at 334.70 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was down 1.46% or 35.10 points to 2360.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 7.19% to 205.05, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 2.77% to settle at 283.90 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which gained 2.73% to close at 184.30.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 1.37% to 154.40 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 1.33% to settle at 362.50 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 0.72% to 288.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 817 to 776 and 61 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1276 rose and 1256 declined, while 155 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.93% to 19.2550.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.13% or 1.60 to $1222.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.55% or 0.31 to hit $56.77 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $66.75 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.26% to 71.595, while EUR/INR fell 0.50% to 81.7615.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 96.25.
