Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Auto, IT and Capital Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.74% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.74%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA), which rose 3.23% or 266.20 points to trade at 8,498.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) added 3.00% or 115.05 points to end at 3,951.40 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 2.85% or 46.70 points to 1,683.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which fell 1.85% or 28.10 points to trade at 1,489.15 at the close. HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) declined 1.36% or 19.60 points to end at 1,419.55 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was down 1.22% or 21.35 points to 1,724.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 3.12% to 1,686.75, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 2.73% to settle at 414.30 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which gained 2.61% to close at 1,908.60.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.87% to 1,489.15 in late trade, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which lost 1.28% to settle at 1,419.80 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 0.93% to 1,729.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1148 to 985 and 53 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1983 rose and 1688 declined, while 117 ended unchanged.
Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.85% or 46.70 to 1,683.00. Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) rose to all time highs; up 3.12% or 51.10 to 1,686.75. Shares in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) rose to all time highs; up 2.61% or 48.55 to 1,908.60.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.58% to 15.20.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.33% or 6.65 to $2,040.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.62% or 0.48 to hit $78.39 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.47 to trade at $83.50 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.12% to 82.83, while EUR/INR rose 0.21% to 89.90.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 103.60.
