Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Power and Metals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.74%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.78%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which rose 3.42% or 7.50 points to trade at 226.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) added 3.03% or 10.70 points to end at 363.30 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) was up 3.00% or 39.65 points to 1363.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which fell 1.57% or 29.95 points to trade at 1883.00 at the close. UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) declined 1.39% or 55.10 points to end at 3899.25 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was down 0.95% or 7.85 points to 821.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 3.14% to 226.40, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was up 3.11% to settle at 1364.00 and Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which gained 2.70% to close at 361.90.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.34% to 1887.65 in late trade, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which lost 0.32% to settle at 1909.70 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 0.22% to 361.05 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1140 to 461 and 66 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1662 rose and 898 declined, while 140 ended unchanged.
Shares in Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) rose to all time highs; rising 3.00% or 39.65 to 1363.10. Shares in Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) rose to all time highs; rising 3.11% or 41.20 to 1364.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.42% to 12.3900.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.78% or 9.80 to $1265.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.26% or 0.19 to hit $73.61 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.59 to trade at $77.70 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.01% to 68.770, while EUR/INR rose 0.14% to 80.9110.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 93.58.
