Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.71%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.83%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 8.82% or 16.20 points to trade at 200.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 6.25% or 14.35 points to end at 242.90 and Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) was up 4.11% or 35.20 points to 906.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which fell 4.18% or 14.15 points to trade at 326.75 at the close. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) declined 3.36% or 8.45 points to end at 243.15 and AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) was down 3.34% or 20.50 points to 593.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 9.68% to 201.20, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was up 3.91% to settle at 121.05 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 3.26% to close at 2255.80.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 4.07% to 324.50 in late trade, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 3.00% to settle at 593.95 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 2.25% to 1649.10 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1006 to 612 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1589 fell and 1011 advanced, while 147 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.94% to 16.8350.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.49% or 5.90 to $1190.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.18% or 0.13 to hit $73.38 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.29% or 0.24 to trade at $82.97 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.50% to 72.875, while EUR/INR rose 0.48% to 84.5775.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 94.74.
