Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Metals, Real Estate and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.70%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.64%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL), which rose 6.79% or 19.80 points to trade at 311.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) added 5.32% or 19.90 points to end at 393.80 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was up 4.39% or 14.35 points to 341.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which fell 7.66% or 38.80 points to trade at 467.75 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) declined 3.48% or 29.95 points to end at 830.05 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) was down 2.58% or 4.65 points to 175.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 5.38% to 393.85, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was up 2.85% to settle at 1202.50 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which gained 2.38% to close at 4486.65.
The worst performers were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 3.76% to 827.10 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 1.61% to settle at 607.10 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.36% to 2175.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 995 to 617 and 78 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1429 rose and 1127 declined, while 168 ended unchanged.
Shares in JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 6.79% or 19.80 to 311.35.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.87% to 21.6450.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.29% or 5.55 to $1914.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.83% or 0.34 to hit $40.62 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.93% or 0.40 to trade at $42.76 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.16% to 73.304, while EUR/INR fell 0.02% to 85.9275.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 93.645.
