Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Auto, Consumer Durables and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.69%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.65%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN), which rose 3.23% or 24.70 points to trade at 790.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 2.93% or 62.25 points to end at 2,189.70 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 2.84% or 12.15 points to 440.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC), which fell 2.67% or 24.20 points to trade at 883.80 at the close. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) declined 2.58% or 5.55 points to end at 209.30 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was down 2.20% or 19.85 points to 883.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which rose 2.87% to 2,568.75, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 2.84% to settle at 2,188.90 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 2.55% to close at 8,780.75.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 2.70% to 883.60 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 2.54% to settle at 209.40 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 2.28% to 883.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 933 to 864 and 73 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1698 rose and 1471 declined, while 140 ended unchanged.
Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.20% or 19.85 to 883.15. Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.28% or 20.60 to 883.10.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.05% to 17.60 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.23% or 4.00 to $1,701.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.68% or 1.61 to hit $97.39 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.01% or 1.99 to trade at $101.09 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 79.87, while EUR/INR rose 0.28% to 80.24.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 108.22.
