Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Public Sector Undertakings and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.69%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which rose 3.67% or 7.40 points to trade at 208.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) added 2.84% or 3.10 points to end at 112.15 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 2.70% or 3.70 points to 140.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI), which fell 1.86% or 85.00 points to trade at 4478.50 at the close. JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) declined 1.63% or 10.75 points to end at 650.25 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) was down 0.88% or 6.00 points to 678.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 3.40% to 208.40, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 2.48% to settle at 217.30 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which gained 2.12% to close at 6917.50.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 0.93% to 678.50 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 0.80% to settle at 790.70 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 0.57% to 7384.60 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1144 to 628 and 46 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2121 rose and 1097 declined, while 132 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.55% to 15.8250.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.24% or 4.35 to $1806.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.05% or 0.04 to hit $72.72 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $75.31 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.26% to 75.241, while EUR/INR fell 0.25% to 85.2105.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 96.065.
