Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Real Estate and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.69%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.86%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 9.99% or 46.35 points to trade at 510.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 3.09% or 4.40 points to end at 147.00 and AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) was up 2.83% or 11.90 points to 431.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which fell 3.47% or 82.80 points to trade at 2304.50 at the close. GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) declined 2.92% or 2.95 points to end at 98.15 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was down 2.39% or 3.45 points to 140.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 7.93% to 500.70, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was up 2.75% to settle at 1339.65 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 2.27% to close at 1572.00.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 3.92% to 2292.20 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 2.44% to settle at 324.25 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 2.29% to 2728.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1000 to 626 and 52 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1449 rose and 973 declined, while 138 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.54% to 29.4375.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.16% or 2.75 to $1724.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.77% or 1.08 to hit $37.86 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.31% or 0.95 to trade at $40.23 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 75.540, while EUR/INR rose 0.34% to 85.8735.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 96.142.
