Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Public Sector Undertakings and Capital Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.67% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.69%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN), which rose 3.48% or 38.45 points to trade at 1,143.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 2.38% or 35.15 points to end at 1,510.00 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was up 2.25% or 39.90 points to 1,809.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which fell 1.23% or 49.40 points to trade at 3,968.00 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) declined 1.11% or 37.65 points to end at 3,362.00 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) was down 0.69% or 21.45 points to 3,108.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which rose 2.14% to 1,807.50, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was up 2.12% to settle at 1,767.30 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which gained 1.93% to close at 1,278.00.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.20% to 3,968.00 in late trade, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which lost 1.07% to settle at 3,363.55 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 0.74% to 3,109.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1405 to 852 and 23 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2247 rose and 1524 declined, while 98 ended unchanged.
Shares in HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.12% or 36.75 to 1,767.30.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.19% to 13.20.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.98% or 22.95 to $2,356.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.11% or 0.09 to hit $82.72 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.06% or 0.05 to trade at $86.19 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.05% to 83.53, while EUR/INR rose 0.21% to 89.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 105.33.
