Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.66%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which rose 6.49% or 42.80 points to trade at 697.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 6.07% or 19.35 points to end at 336.60 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was up 5.63% or 22.40 points to 419.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which fell 3.08% or 25.20 points to trade at 790.05 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) declined 1.55% or 32.95 points to end at 2092.35 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was down 1.57% or 46.10 points to 2881.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 5.87% to 420.15, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was up 5.40% to settle at 335.75 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 4.08% to close at 160.55.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.72% to 2094.35 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 1.56% to settle at 1065.95 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.52% to 2884.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 832 to 758 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1238 fell and 1170 advanced, while 125 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.91% to 27.1325.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.27% or 3.55 to $1298.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.62% or 0.38 to hit $61.42 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.66 to trade at $70.89 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.23% to 70.385, while EUR/INR fell 0.21% to 79.0260.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 97.178.
