Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Metals and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.65% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA), which rose 7.09% or 189.55 points to trade at 2863.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 5.95% or 160.65 points to end at 2859.25 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was up 4.78% or 282.20 points to 6182.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which fell 1.73% or 3.85 points to trade at 218.20 at the close. GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) declined 1.16% or 1.15 points to end at 98.35 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was down 1.11% or 0.95 points to 84.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which rose 6.89% to 2860.00, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 5.34% to settle at 2841.85 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which gained 4.85% to close at 6182.25.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 0.99% to 84.90 in late trade, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which lost 0.94% to settle at 1821.75 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 0.92% to 2028.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1158 to 474 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1781 rose and 812 declined, while 143 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.65% to 30.4600.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.34% or 5.95 to $1758.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.08% or 0.03 to hit $39.80 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $42.20 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.31% to 76.012, while EUR/INR fell 0.01% to 85.2820.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 97.328.
