Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, IT and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.60%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.65%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 2.34% or 28.20 points to trade at 1,234.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 1.75% or 113.60 points to end at 6,620.10 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 1.61% or 24.95 points to 1,572.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH), which fell 1.34% or 63.45 points to trade at 4,678.85 at the close. UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) declined 1.04% or 8.05 points to end at 765.00 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was down 0.83% or 3.85 points to 458.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 2.46% to 1,235.45, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 1.75% to settle at 6,619.90 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.65% to close at 1,572.70.
The worst performers were Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 0.57% to 20,365.00 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 0.54% to settle at 111.15 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 0.43% to 8,621.70 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1002 to 891 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1826 rose and 1575 declined, while 138 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.27% to 12.88 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.29% or 5.15 to $1,797.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.28% or 0.94 to hit $74.11 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.59% or 1.24 to trade at $79.23 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.23% to 82.83, while EUR/INR rose 0.19% to 87.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 104.64.
