Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Metals, Consumer Durables and Capital Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.59%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC), which rose 3.88% or 28.50 points to trade at 760.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) added 2.98% or 38.00 points to end at 1315.70 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 2.74% or 5.30 points to 199.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which fell 0.90% or 3.90 points to trade at 429.95 at the close. Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) declined 0.85% or 243.60 points to end at 28570.75 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was down 0.69% or 3.40 points to 491.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 3.74% to 760.75, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was up 3.14% to settle at 2409.50 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 3.08% to close at 1315.40.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 0.81% to 429.70 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 0.67% to settle at 200.45 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 0.40% to 558.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1039 to 567 and 24 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1868 rose and 969 declined, while 90 ended unchanged.

Shares in Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 3.74% or 27.45 to 760.75. Shares in Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.08% or 39.25 to 1315.40.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.52% to 13.4150.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.27% or 3.50 to $1315.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.34% or 0.21 to hit $61.84 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $67.85 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.06% to 63.395, while EUR/INR rose 0.17% to 76.4269.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 91.67.
