Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Consumer Durables and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.58%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.54%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE), which rose 3.49% or 31.65 points to trade at 938.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 2.22% or 57.70 points to end at 2,661.15 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 2.08% or 23.45 points to 1,150.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which fell 2.57% or 6.10 points to trade at 231.50 at the close. Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM) declined 1.51% or 370.50 points to end at 24,135.10 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) was down 0.85% or 161.15 points to 18,890.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which rose 2.39% to 2,664.95, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 2.08% to settle at 801.15 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 2.05% to close at 1,149.65.
The worst performers were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was down 0.43% to 2,421.00 in late trade, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which lost 0.40% to settle at 1,492.20 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 0.33% to 18,972.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1155 to 716 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2074 rose and 1358 declined, while 171 ended unchanged.
Shares in Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) rose to all time highs; up 3.49% or 31.65 to 938.50.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.24% to 17.94.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.51% or 8.90 to $1,737.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.01% or 0.88 to hit $87.67 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.14% or 1.06 to trade at $93.90 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.12% to 79.56, while EUR/INR rose 0.87% to 80.64.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.70% at 107.97.
