Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Auto, Real Estate and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.58%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.59%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which rose 7.54% or 197.05 points to trade at 2807.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) added 4.35% or 288.85 points to end at 6962.30 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 3.62% or 36.35 points to 1043.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which fell 18.12% or 35.75 points to trade at 162.15 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 7.26% or 27.60 points to end at 354.40 and Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) was down 4.53% or 8.80 points to 185.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which rose 7.48% to 2807.35, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was up 4.96% to settle at 6956.55 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which gained 3.86% to close at 1044.00.
The worst performers were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was down 17.82% to 162.30 in late trade, Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which lost 4.45% to settle at 185.65 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 3.09% to 284.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 853 to 726 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1299 fell and 1151 advanced, while 128 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 8.19% to 15.7200.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.02% or 0.25 to $1325.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.32% or 0.17 to hit $53.62 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.07 to trade at $60.77 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.43% to 71.270, while EUR/INR rose 0.62% to 81.7110.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 95.243.
