Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Metals, Banking and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.58%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.74%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI), which rose 2.32% or 23.15 points to trade at 1019.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) added 1.72% or 3.85 points to end at 228.70 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 2.20% or 42.50 points to 1967.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which fell 3.28% or 22.10 points to trade at 652.25 at the close. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) declined 1.51% or 2.55 points to end at 165.40 and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) was down 1.65% or 5.15 points to 307.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 2.44% to 1019.95, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 2.27% to settle at 1974.00 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 2.10% to close at 228.75.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 1.24% to 162.80 in late trade, Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which lost 0.92% to settle at 270.60 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 0.90% to 263.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 799 to 783 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1272 fell and 1262 advanced, while 132 ended unchanged.

Shares in Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.44% or 24.30 to 1019.95. Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.27% or 43.75 to 1974.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.79% to 12.1725.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.34% or 4.30 to $1274.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $64.88 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.05 to trade at $75.13 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.10% to 68.105, while EUR/INR fell 0.56% to 78.7103.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 94.85.
