Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, IT and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.57% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA), which rose 2.63% or 113.00 points to trade at 4,412.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 2.38% or 144.10 points to end at 6,200.05 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was up 1.91% or 6.65 points to 355.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL), which fell 2.59% or 13.75 points to trade at 517.85 at the close. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) declined 1.67% or 41.85 points to end at 2,468.95 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) was down 0.80% or 1.90 points to 236.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 2.39% to 6,199.45, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 1.90% to settle at 1,359.95 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 1.65% to close at 4,923.95.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.46% to 2,468.20 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 1.13% to settle at 235.85 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 0.76% to 881.05 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1153 to 763 and 65 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1924 rose and 1434 declined, while 129 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) rose to all time highs; up 2.63% or 113.00 to 4,412.00. Shares in Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.65% or 79.75 to 4,923.95.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.95% to 11.43 a new 3-years low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.69% or 13.80 to $2,009.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.11% or 0.08 to hit $74.38 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.11 to trade at $77.83 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.09% to 81.84, while EUR/INR rose 0.13% to 90.36.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 101.22.
