Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Capital Goods, IT and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.56%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.62%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA), which rose 2.15% or 105.95 points to trade at 5,024.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) added 2.06% or 62.25 points to end at 3,090.00 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was up 1.76% or 26.75 points to 1,548.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which fell 1.21% or 2.40 points to trade at 196.60 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 0.52% or 6.05 points to end at 1,161.00 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was down 0.51% or 2.40 points to 471.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which rose 2.35% to 3,097.35, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 1.54% to settle at 3,215.40 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 1.48% to close at 3,589.10.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.26% to 196.50 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 0.47% to settle at 233.90 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 0.46% to 22,883.05 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1281 to 737 and 79 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2175 rose and 1352 declined, while 122 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 6.13% to 10.94.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.12% or 2.15 to $1,836.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.54% or 1.30 to hit $82.92 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.40% or 1.20 to trade at $84.61 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.23% to 83.26, while EUR/INR rose 0.12% to 87.59.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 106.42.
