Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Power, Metals and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.56%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.48%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 7.53% or 15.20 points to trade at 217.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) added 6.01% or 36.50 points to end at 644.05 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 5.35% or 7.70 points to 151.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA), which fell 2.21% or 65.40 points to trade at 2893.00 at the close. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) declined 1.43% or 28.30 points to end at 1951.00 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was down 1.42% or 42.60 points to 2953.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 6.10% to 645.00, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 2.30% to settle at 438.85 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 1.97% to close at 2128.60.
The worst performers were Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 2.62% to 2881.35 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 1.48% to settle at 514.55 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.41% to 1950.40 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1116 to 490 and 73 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1537 rose and 980 declined, while 135 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.01% or 36.50 to 644.05. Shares in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) rose to 52-week highs; up 6.10% or 37.10 to 645.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.19% to 21.1050.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.22% or 4.35 to $1974.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.30% or 0.13 to hit $42.89 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.12 to trade at $45.70 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.18% to 73.136, while EUR/INR fell 0.25% to 86.7315.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 92.618.
