Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Consumer Durables and Metals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.55% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which rose 2.92% or 41.75 points to trade at 1,472.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) added 2.43% or 12.50 points to end at 527.35 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) was up 2.10% or 55.95 points to 2,726.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC), which fell 2.27% or 8.60 points to trade at 369.75 at the close. Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) declined 0.92% or 42.95 points to end at 4,630.00 and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) was down 0.82% or 50.95 points to 6,134.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which rose 2.94% to 1,472.25, Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was up 2.36% to settle at 527.05 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which gained 2.16% to close at 11,913.00.
The worst performers were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.94% to 371.00 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 0.67% to settle at 843.20 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 0.65% to 1,512.55 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1631 to 661 and 24 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2537 rose and 1314 declined, while 141 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.92% or 41.75 to 1,472.10. Shares in Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) rose to all time highs; up 2.10% or 55.95 to 2,726.40. Shares in Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.94% or 42.05 to 1,472.25. Shares in UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) rose to all time highs; rising 2.16% or 251.70 to 11,913.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.20% to 13.83.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.02% or 0.45 to $2,339.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.36% or 0.29 to hit $81.83 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.39% or 0.33 to trade at $85.33 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.08% to 83.44, while EUR/INR rose 0.45% to 89.71.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 105.32.
