Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Public Sector Undertakings and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.54% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 7.52% or 16.60 points to trade at 237.25 at the close. Meanwhile, GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) added 4.68% or 6.35 points to end at 142.05 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) was up 3.95% or 21.60 points to 568.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN), which fell 3.24% or 92.30 points to trade at 2757.00 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) declined 2.17% or 33.90 points to end at 1530.00 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) was down 2.13% or 391.45 points to 18000.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 3.95% to 568.70, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 3.79% to settle at 293.05 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 3.14% to close at 1956.65.
The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 3.93% to 2737.30 in late trade, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which lost 2.09% to settle at 1530.75 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 2.04% to 18018.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 855 to 797 and 66 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1611 rose and 1362 declined, while 151 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.08% to 22.8475.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.55% or 10.25 to $1861.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.47% or 0.77 to hit $53.02 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.55% or 0.86 to trade at $56.52 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.28% to 73.248, while EUR/INR fell 0.25% to 89.0165.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 90.422.
