Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Power and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.52%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.59%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI), which rose 2.77% or 34.00 points to trade at 1261.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) added 2.31% or 14.95 points to end at 662.10 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was up 2.07% or 5.75 points to 283.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which fell 2.44% or 11.75 points to trade at 470.40 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) declined 1.73% or 4.15 points to end at 235.40 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) was down 1.59% or 141.60 points to 8759.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 2.80% to 1260.15, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 2.21% to settle at 199.20 and Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which gained 2.05% to close at 283.20.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 1.42% to 339.00 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 1.33% to settle at 8772.30 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 0.83% to 369.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 983 to 622 and 47 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1542 rose and 1082 declined, while 169 ended unchanged.
Shares in Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.44% or 11.75 to 470.40.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.53% to 13.7225 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.78% or 9.40 to $1210.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $68.75 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.28% or 0.22 to trade at $77.49 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.60% to 71.935, while EUR/INR rose 0.10% to 83.5415.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 95.11.
