Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Power and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.51%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.47%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL), which rose 5.48% or 91.65 points to trade at 1,763.20 at the close. Meanwhile, HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) added 3.54% or 24.30 points to end at 710.00 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was up 3.35% or 52.00 points to 1,603.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which fell 1.42% or 4.75 points to trade at 330.55 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) declined 1.42% or 20.80 points to end at 1,448.85 and Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) was down 1.14% or 35.50 points to 3,067.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which rose 3.26% to 1,602.40, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 2.29% to settle at 1,378.50 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 2.11% to close at 1,628.30.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.30% to 1,450.40 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 0.48% to settle at 498.75 and JSW Steel Ltd (BO:JSTL) which was down 0.21% to 915.55 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1547 to 914 and 26 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2258 rose and 1520 declined, while 96 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.11% or 33.65 to 1,628.30.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.75% to 13.78.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.84% or 21.30 to $2,562.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $73.69 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $77.68 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.06% to 83.78, while EUR/INR fell 0.12% to 92.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 101.67.
