Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Power, Technology and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.50%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.62%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 3.01% or 12.60 points to trade at 431.85 at the close. Meanwhile, AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) added 2.90% or 15.85 points to end at 563.95 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) was up 2.99% or 11.00 points to 378.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which fell 2.01% or 10.30 points to trade at 499.65 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 1.65% or 8.70 points to end at 517.70 and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) was down 0.86% or 3.65 points to 418.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which rose 3.06% to 431.20, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 2.74% to settle at 562.40 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 2.72% to close at 2700.40.
The worst performers were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was down 2.08% to 500.10 in late trade, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which lost 0.71% to settle at 2414.40 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 0.36% to 921.05 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 920 to 679 and 24 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1530 rose and 1174 declined, while 192 ended unchanged.
Shares in AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.90% or 15.85 to 563.95. Shares in AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.74% or 15.00 to 562.40.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.03% to 12.6700.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.13% or 1.70 to $1298.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.48% or 0.29 to hit $60.13 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.44% or 0.29 to trade at $66.45 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.36% to 63.840, while EUR/INR fell 0.11% to 76.4490.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 92.07.
