Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Capital Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.50% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.55%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 2.95% or 5.55 points to trade at 193.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 1.71% or 44.30 points to end at 2646.75 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was up 1.60% or 28.00 points to 1782.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC), which fell 1.15% or 49.70 points to trade at 4288.90 at the close. Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) declined 0.88% or 7.75 points to end at 871.65 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) was down 0.71% or 16.75 points to 2332.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which rose 2.87% to 193.40, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 1.76% to settle at 2639.80 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.65% to close at 1038.40.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 0.61% to 3785.95 in late trade, Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which lost 0.92% to settle at 870.45 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 0.80% to 2333.05 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 916 to 664 and 34 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1529 rose and 1144 declined, while 176 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.12% to 11.5875 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.09% or 1.20 to $1271.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.34% or 0.20 to hit $58.16 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.15% or 0.10 to trade at $64.80 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.05% to 64.050, while EUR/INR rose 0.61% to 76.5123.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 92.94.
