Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Capital Goods and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.49% to hit a new 6-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.54%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 4.02% or 8.70 points to trade at 225.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (NS:BHEL) added 3.41% or 4.35 points to end at 132.05 and Larsen & Toubro Limited (NS:LART) was up 3.08% or 46.15 points to 1542.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which fell 2.05% or 52.25 points to trade at 2500.85 at the close. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) declined 1.30% or 9.95 points to end at 753.40 and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (NS:APSE) was down 1.23% or 2.55 points to 204.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which rose 3.72% to 224.35, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BO:BHEL) which was up 3.33% to settle at 131.90 and Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which gained 2.97% to close at 1540.65.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.92% to 2501.80 in late trade, Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which lost 0.97% to settle at 310.10 and Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which was down 0.65% to 2668.90 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 810 to 647 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 922 rose and 692 declined, while 50 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.39% to 15.7375.
Gold for August delivery was up 1.12% or 14.85 to $1335.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.35% or 0.17 to hit $48.16 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.38% or 0.19 to trade at $49.52 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.16% to 67.410, while EUR/INR fell 0.15% to 74.8570.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 95.92.
