Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Oil & Gas and Capital Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.49%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 8.12% or 23.20 points to trade at 307.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) added 5.31% or 22.60 points to end at 450.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 4.91% or 68.45 points to 1469.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which fell 3.17% or 7.95 points to trade at 240.90 at the close. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) declined 1.50% or 2.00 points to end at 130.90 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was down 1.39% or 22.65 points to 1599.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 5.73% to 450.20, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 5.50% to settle at 1468.70 and Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which gained 2.65% to close at 65.85.
The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 1.49% to 1599.10 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 0.83% to settle at 398.55 and Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was down 0.77% to 76.85 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 834 to 728 and 70 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1287 fell and 1139 advanced, while 190 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.64% to 15.1600.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.14% or 2.05 to $1476.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.25% or 0.14 to hit $55.49 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.25% or 0.15 to trade at $61.06 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.05% to 71.855, while EUR/INR fell 0.04% to 79.5290.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 97.840.
