Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Public Sector Undertakings, Power and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.47%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which rose 10.96% or 24.85 points to trade at 250.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 8.66% or 35.45 points to end at 439.35 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) was up 3.59% or 52.35 points to 1509.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which fell 2.09% or 6.15 points to trade at 285.85 at the close. Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) declined 2.58% or 1.70 points to end at 64.15 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was down 2.21% or 12.70 points to 560.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 7.36% to 439.25, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was up 3.52% to settle at 1509.80 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which gained 3.43% to close at 747.85.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 2.66% to 64.15 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 2.19% to settle at 560.60 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 2.02% to 2108.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 851 to 709 and 71 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1331 fell and 1102 advanced, while 169 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 7.36% or 30.10 to 439.25. Shares in Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.52% or 51.30 to 1509.80.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.17% to 15.4125.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.42% or 6.15 to $1465.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.84% or 0.48 to hit $56.66 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.78% or 0.49 to trade at $61.95 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.27% to 71.744, while EUR/INR fell 0.27% to 79.4240.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 97.745.
