Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Metals, Healthcare and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.47% to hit a new 6-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.33%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which rose 6.11% or 49.55 points to trade at 858.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) added 4.13% or 11.25 points to end at 283.85 and Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) was up 3.79% or 6.75 points to 184.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which fell 2.32% or 8.30 points to trade at 347.65 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) declined 2.20% or 40.10 points to end at 1780.00 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was down 1.83% or 383.00 points to 20547.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 3.20% to 183.75, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 2.73% to settle at 520.85 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which gained 2.27% to close at 671.80.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 2.08% to 1782.10 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 1.10% to settle at 296.70 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 0.89% to 2915.05 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 893 to 705 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1397 rose and 1132 declined, while 159 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.20% to 17.1850.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.04% or 0.55 to $1295.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.23% or 0.73 to hit $60.03 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.01% or 0.68 to trade at $67.78 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.05% to 69.198, while EUR/INR fell 0.04% to 77.6185.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 96.852.
