Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Metals and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.44% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.43%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 5.73% or 16.00 points to trade at 295.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) added 4.12% or 81.40 points to end at 2055.70 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was up 2.64% or 16.55 points to 643.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which fell 2.87% or 83.15 points to trade at 2818.15 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) declined 2.46% or 38.45 points to end at 1524.70 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was down 2.35% or 2.35 points to 97.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 4.07% to 2055.55, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 2.48% to settle at 642.60 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which gained 1.81% to close at 214.15.
The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 2.45% to 1525.00 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 2.25% to settle at 97.55 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 1.43% to 1530.65 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 969 to 671 and 74 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1661 rose and 1223 declined, while 126 ended unchanged.

(NS:SUN) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.64% or 16.55 to 643.65. Shares in Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.48% or 15.55 to 642.60. Shares in Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) rose to 3-years highs; up 1.81% or 3.80 to 214.15.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.79% to 23.0450.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.01% or 0.10 to $1842.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.55% or 0.32 to hit $58.36 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.62% or 0.38 to trade at $61.09 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 72.840, while EUR/INR rose 0.17% to 88.3435.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 90.382.
