Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Consumer Durables and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.43%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which rose 2.61% or 27.25 points to trade at 1,072.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) added 2.49% or 79.15 points to end at 3,253.05 and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) was up 1.81% or 93.45 points to 5,251.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which fell 2.40% or 15.85 points to trade at 644.25 at the close. JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) declined 1.63% or 13.20 points to end at 797.40 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was down 1.18% or 89.25 points to 7,444.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 2.48% to 1,072.00, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was up 1.77% to settle at 9,910.00 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which gained 1.56% to close at 22,930.00.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.25% to 7,440.00 in late trade, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 1.11% to settle at 953.40 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 0.84% to 1,114.70 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1105 to 831 and 66 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1840 rose and 1523 declined, while 118 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.61% or 27.25 to 1,072.25. Shares in UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.40% or 15.85 to 644.25. Shares in Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.48% or 25.95 to 1,072.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.93% to 11.01.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.59% or 11.35 to $1,942.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.40% or 0.29 to hit $73.28 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.32% or 0.25 to trade at $77.94 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.21% to 82.41, while EUR/INR fell 0.08% to 90.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 101.38.
